Step 5) Test & Reassess

Often times people ask me: why do we need to reassess? Isn’t this more work? The short answer is: yes. Yes, it is more work AND doing so will create lasting organization.

What does it mean to Test & Reassess?

  1. Live in the newly organized space

  2. Take note of what is working

  3. Note what is not working

Once you identify the pain points, we will make adjustments to make the space work for you. This can be as simple as:

  • Adding coat hooks to the front entry

  • Moving art supplies from multiple drawers to a mobile cart

  • Rearranging pots and pans so they are easier to get in and out of the cabinet

  • Relocating beanies, scarves, and gloves from a dresser drawer to the front entry

One of our mottos at In The Mess is: Do what works for you! (check out: What Works for Others for more on this topic). This is the key to the Test & Reassess step. These small adjustments can go a long way in creating the lasting organization you want.
